Our Task
Promising conversations are taking place within our Rocky Mountain clergy
connection. This year, with the principles of Appreciative Inquiry
introduced in 2005 to guide us, you are invited to participate in
finding common ground and renewal of our common purpose.
Some of our clergy colleagues have been working for some time on building
trust within our system. Primarily involving the Board of Ordained
Ministry, the Bishop, and the Cabinet, this work has borne fruit.
Matters of pain and promise will be aired this October in a broader
setting in order that we might all better understand one another
and respond to our common calling with new depth and devotion.
Another brewing conversation concerns how the church is dealing with its
postmodern surroundings. Whether with a sense of excitement and opportunity
or feelings of angst and loss, all of us are encountering a rapidly
changing landscape within which we are called to envision and enact
effective ministry.
Over the course of four sessions several of our colleagues, including
Bishop Brown, will share from their experience as a picture is painted
of ministry in the 21st century. We will then be invited to share
with one another based on strategic questions designed to promote
constructive dialogue. No gripe sessions here, thank you, even as
we may deal with some hard questions.
Even as we revisit the Lenten journey of reflection and repentance, we
are marked as an Easter people. May we gather this October in expectation
of the Spirit breathing new life into our connection.
Facilitator, Worship here.
