Probationary Members Information
Residency in Ministry
Residency in Ministry (RIM) is a program for probationary members of the Rocky
Mountain Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. It is sponsored
by the Board of Ordained Ministry and is held 3 times per year at a suitable
retreat
location.
Immediately after commissioning, all probationary members must begin participating
in the RIM program and continue this for the first three years of probation.
Probationary members are expected to
- Attend one (or both) of the August and October events each year.
- Attend the required March event each year.
Attendance for three consecutive years is required for full membership and
ordination as an elder or deacon. Members are expected to be present for the
entire event. Events are scheduled each year for the first Monday and Tuesday
of August; the first Monday and Tuesday of October; and the first Monday, Tuesday,
and Wednesday of March (in conjunction with the March BOM meeting).
